Even now, I am afraid-- scared of the things I cannot see. Surely, I still get goose bumps from the idea of monsters that hide in the dark and other unearthly creatures that just want to rip someone apart. And it is pathetic how I call myself an educated person if I still believe in that crap. I went to school to know what is real and what is not, to learn, and ultimately to have a good future. Ah, yes. I was educated to have a good future. And if there is one monster I am truly afraid of, it is that unknown future ahead of me.
But like everything else, it gets tiring after a long while. You start to think that what if you have prepared too much and most of the things you have stacked up go to waste? Or what if you have never really needed something you have already worked so hard? It is really frustrating. Not being in control of something that concerns you no less than banks concern themselves with money. Maybe, it is just me being a human or it is just completely being me that I want to know what path I am taking—what awaits me in each step I set in order to reach that bright and shimmering.....future everyone on this planet gets so worked up about. I just want to know whether it is safer to go left or right. All I want is to know.
But I am an idiot, a hopeless moron who is driven by desire for better. So even without the knowledge to make my journey a completely safe one, I should still pursue that oasis I know is ahead of me. I should still continue making preparations when things go haywire, illuminating tiny lights in places I should trodden. So when I look back at it all in my olden days, I should see a river, a nay, a galaxy of glowing accomplishments, struggling but slowly outshining that blindingly luminescent future. I will just have to ignite as many lights as I can to keep all those monsters away, ALL of them.
